Hey guys, Josh from Sportitude here and today we have a review on the Blackroll Running Box. What we have here is two foam rollers and an exercise band.

We all know we need to take care of ourselves better than what we do currently. There are a couple of tools in this running box that are going to make it easier for you.

I’ve got a slim foam roller. This can be used for exercises such as as rolling out your calves and getting onto your ITBs that no one likes to roll out, but we know we need to. You can use it to roll out your glutes, lower back, hamstrings and if you get on your front, your quads as well.

Blackroll include a how-to running booklet in a few different languages which is handy. This running booklet also provides usage tips and they have videos on the Blackroll YouTube channel which are really helpful.

The mini roller they have in their pack is this little guy here. For me when I’m running, my plantar fascia is the thing I like to focus on the most. You probably hear people say, “Get a coke bottle, fill it up with water and roll your foot over it”. Nobody wants that, because we don’t like plastic anymore.

Let’s use something that’s going to last longer, feel better and with little ripples on the roller itself. When you are rolling it over your foot, you’re going to feel that massage effect which is fantastic. This should transfer from your plantar fascia, to your Achilles as well when you’re laying back. This little roller has multi-purpose use and is a great little item.

Now, the theraband. If you want some help stretching out the hamstrings or if you want to do side walks, this elastic band is a great tool. It doesn’t take up too much space in your kit and obviously it has multiple uses. Again, there’s advice and tips on how-to inside this booklet.

It’s all good having those three items on their own, but it also comes with this Blackroll travel bag.

When I’m travelling, I have the mini roller, elastic band and the big roller as well. The bag has a drawcord to keep everything secure, so you can toss it on your back and away you go. You can pack it inside your carry-on luggage, training bag, race day bag or suitcase.

As I touched on before travel is a component for me. I travelled up to Noosa for a triathlon this year and this running kit was great. It packed in easily into my suitcase.

It’s nice to know when you’ve had a horrible flight or a bad night's sleep and you’re first landing in your destination, that you’ve got the tools to get you rocking and rolling for your first training run. Or, if you haven’t travelled the night before a race, you know you have the tools and utensils to get you primed and ready to go on that start line.
