Food, Fitness And Life According To Brooke Styles

by Sportitude

Brooke Styles. If the name rings a bell, that would be because this globetrotting model and fitness enthusiast has amassed a social media following of over 100K. Not a small feat in today’s lucrative social media world.

What makes Brooke’s Instagram account so appealing is a carefully curated selection of travel, fashion and health posts that inspire even the laziest of us to throw on a pair of runners and work for that summer body.

Here we speak food, fitness, health and life with the aspiring model.

How would you describe your fitness philosophy?

A well-balanced diet and regular exercise make me feel so great about myself. I don’t need a six-pack but knowing I'm keeping my body happy puts a positive vibe into every day.

Since starting a healthier choice I gained  motivation to do things and explore the world we have while being fit. A lot of my workouts include cardio, so running up a mountain or along a new beach makes every day different.

How do your travels influence your approach to fitness?

Most of my workout routine includes cardio so if I'm on the move I include a run or long, fast-paced walk.

What is your go-to exercise when you are time poor?

Quick ab burn, this routine will have you sore for days!

  • Genie abs x 40
  • Eagle abs x30
  • Flutters x 50
  • Star abs x 25
  • Clock abs x 12 (clockwise and anti-clockwise)
  • Hollow rock x 15
  • Single leg drop x25
  • Earthquake hold as long as possible

What does a day in the life of Brooke look like?

I wake up at 7:30am, followed by a green tea and breakfast. While eating breakfast I usually check social media and emails.

If I have a photoshoot that day I have a good scrub and wash my hair to be prepped for hair and makeup. If I don’t, I take my puppy Daisy for a walk along the beach.

Another email and social media check when I have lunch. If I don’t make my own, I'm always looking for new cafes. I don’t know why I didn’t become a food blogger!

In the afternoon I usually catch up with my boyfriend and we hike a mountain before sundown and watch the sunset and race to the bottom. Cardio ticked for the day!

Home to an early dinner and an episode of Game Of Thrones or Orange Is The New Black.

Describe your typical food diary in a day.

Breakfast:  Spinach bed and 2 poached eggs or bowl of oats and green tea
Lunch: Turkish toasted bread with avo, chicken breast, lettuce, cucumber and mayo
Dinner: Homestyle marinated chicken breast and roast or steamed veggies
Snacks: Nut bars or fruit

What does your typical training schedule comprise of throughout the week?

A mix of cardio, I do try to stay outdoors but if it's wet, I love to do Zumba! If not I take the dogs for a run along the beach or a mountain hike.

What is the best piece of advice you can give to new gym devotees?

The hardest part is getting into a routine. Start a detox tea! It gives you the motivation and puts you on a schedule.

3 Gym Bag Essentials you can’t live without.

Water, post-workout snack (nut bar), headphones!
