Protein Shakes - It's All In The Timing

So you have decided to jump on the protein shake bandwagon. You may have taken your gym sessions to the next level or have simply caved to the constant background noise of rattling shakers at your gym. Whatever has compelled you to take up the supplement, the next step is knowing when to mix it up. 

Pre-Workout: Maximize you pre-workout routine by making your shake half an hour before you start and remember to pick a shake that is both protein and carbohydrates based. 

Post-Workout: So you have just finished your fitness session. It’s time to head home, have a shower, kick back and at some point make that second protein shake. Wrong. According to Men’s Health UK, you should be taking your shake as soon as possible. Think of it as priority number

Before Bed: Take your shake half an hour before you go to bed. If you find that 3 shakes per day are unattainable, opt for a banana and glass of milk. Both will stimulate muscle growth as you sleep.
