River Run: Support The 2022 Eastern Australia Flood Relief

by Sportitude

Devastatingly, the recent flood emergency in New South Wales and Queensland has had catastrophic impacts on regional areas, turning small towns across Eastern Australia into crisis zones and leaving many families without liveable homes or essentials.

Sportitude would love for you to join us on our journey as we strive to raise $10,000 for these flood-affected regions, with 100% of the proceeds going to the disaster-relief charity GIVIT.

The team at Sportitude want to support flood-ravaged regions by doing what we do best – running. Our goal is to unify the local running community in South Australia, connecting with running clubs, gyms and everyday runners like you to make a difference – because we’re stronger together.

Sportitude is holding an in-person River Run charity event from Sportitude Running at Hindmarsh to raise funds for flood-affected regions. We’ll also be holding a virtual River Run so everyone across Australia can be involved.

Even if you prefer not to run, you can show your support by donating to GIVIT through the Sportitude River Run GoFundMe page.

What is GIVIT?

GIVIT is a charity organisation forming a bridge between disaster-affected communities and the donations, goods and services generously provided by wider Australia.

GIVIT are working in collaboration with the Queensland and New South Wales Government to ensure the funds you raise are put to practical use to benefit the lives of people in flood-affected regions.

Their goal is to fulfil genuine and urgent needs, when and where they’re required so no donation goes to waste – everything from groceries, blankets, clothing, furniture and appliances to assist vulnerable individuals, families and communities during times of crisis.

To help the economy of flood-affected regions to get back on its feet, these essentials are purchased from local businesses if possible.

Together we can support fellow Australians to get through this difficult time.

How can I help?

Anyone across Australia and the world can make a donation to GIVIT now through the Sportitude River Run GoFundMe page to support flood-affected communities.

A minimum donation of $15 would be genuinely and sincerely appreciated, whether you’re joining us for River Run in Adelaide, participating in the event virtually or simply wish to donate to provide a helping hand.

100% of your donation will be used to purchase essentials to support recovery efforts and cultivate hope. Together we can reach our target of $10,000 to have a powerful and positive impact in flood-affected regions.

This year Sportitude is also partnering with Shoe Boxes Of Love - giving you a practical and compassionate way to help those in need, either through creating your own Shoe Box of Love for SA residents or providing a monetary donation online.

How can I join the in-person River Run charity event?

If you’re a South Australian resident, we hope you join us at River Run – an in-person charity run from Sportitude Running at Hindmarsh in Adelaide. Run with us as we bring together our local community for a cause that’s close to the hearts of all Australians.

We encourage you to provide a minimum donation of $15 through the Sportitude River Run GoFundMe page at any point prior to the event.

Thank you!

Thank you sincerely for your generosity and enthusiasm in putting your feet first to support flood-affected regions. Everyone working and running together is the reason why fundraising efforts like River Run are possible. We couldn’t do it without you.

It’s through collaborative efforts like River Run that we truly embody the Australian spirit of supporting those in need through unifying our local running community.

Your participation and support make a big difference to those in need and we thank you whole-heartedly for your contribution as we work together to raise $10,000 for flood relief.

We’d also like to thank Coffee In Common and the local running and fitness communities who are joining us to support River Run.

Happy running and we look forward to seeing you there!
