We All Have The Same Hours In A Day As Beyonce

by Sportitude

When it comes to time management there are some cold hard facts to face. Sure there are only 24 hours in the day, but you also have the same hours in the day as Beyonce. But don’t be too hard on yourself, because we all go through that overwhelming feeling of needing more time. More time to work, more time to play, more time to focus on our health and fitness.  The secret is not in finding more hours in the day but using your time wisely. Sound too simple? That is because it is! We just simply don’t do it. Here are 10 effective ways to get more out of your day.

1. Use a diary. Don’t underestimate the importance of mapping out your days, weeks and months. Our minds aren’t wired to remember every little detail so avoid overbooking or double booking by planning your week ahead.

2. Stop glorifying busy. Now that you have your brand new diary in hand, refrain from blocking off every single moment that you can with work, social commitments and every little life event in-between. Make time for time and learn the power of saying no.

3. Prepare the night before. Prepare your breakfast, prepare your lunch, prepare your work clothes, prepare your gym clothes. Prepare it all! Don’t waste precious time looking for clothes and mulling over what to order for lunch.

4. Get up ten minutes earlier. It will set you up for the rest of the day. Instead of starting the day feeling rushed, arrive at the gym or work or wherever you need to be early, ready and focused.

5. Stop multitasking, it’s not all it’s cracked up to be. Focus on the task at hand and give it your undivided attention. Write a daily list and cross things off as you achieve them … and for Beyonce’s sake … make realistic goals.

6.  Make exercise a priority. When time is of the essence, hitting the pavement or the gym tends to fall to the bottom of everyone’s ‘to do’ list. However ensuring you exercise in the morning will help keep you motivated, energized and focused. Come nighttime, it will help you de-stress and sleep better.

7. Stop writing essays and by that, we mean keep your work emails short, sharp and concise. Emails are rated as one of the highest causes of work-related stress but they don’t need to be. Prepare some common replies in your drafts section and always remember that the person on the other end doesn’t want your life story, they juts want an answer.

8. Switch off the television. Did you know that the average person watches 35 hours of television a week? Even if you broke the trend and watched just 2 hours of television a day, that is 14 hours of your working week spent on the couch. Why not skip the dramas and read a newspaper during your lunch break instead. New is the only legitimate excuse we have for watching television after all isn't it?!

9. Remove apps from your phone. Unless you work in the realm of social media, consider whether apps such as Facebook and Instagram need to be on your phone. If you really can’t part with your favorite means of communicating with friends, place time limits on your use.

10. Sleep more. Yes! you read correctly. The more tired you are the less productive you will be. As with all good things in life, its quality over quantity. Facing the day feeling fresh and revitalized will mean you can tackle any task feeling focused. Spend less time on all your tasks but executed them with purpose and energy.
