It's A Flat Stomach Not Rocket Science

by Sportitude

Let’s Talk Belly Fat ...

Can’t keep up with the weather? We don’t blame you. Hot and steamy one day, cool as a winter’s morning the next. While we would all love to have a fiercely committed fitness routine year round, we know that the cooler days and baggier fleece jumpers can make us a little complacent. So what is one to do when the weather starts to heat up and that flat stomach is still in winter mode? Implement 3 basics rules …

Go back to basics

At the core of your core is sticking to a wholesome eating plan. Now this doesn’t mean starving yourself and going on fad diets. The solution is far simpler and means going back to basics and wholesome foods. If a flat stomach is your goal, ditch all processed, packaged, fried and preserved foods. Opt for proteins, complex carbohydrates, fruits and vegetables. Forget rice crackers and sugar filled bars for snacks and turn to fruits and vegetables instead.

Ask yourself… would my grandma have eaten this when she was my age? Didn’t exist back then? Then don’t eat it…

Ditch the fizz

When you have overhauled your entire fridge and pantry, ridding it off any processed foods a little sneaky diet coke or drink can’t be that harmful right? You need to treat yourself after all. Well, how wrong you are. Processed, sugar-filled drinks (vitamin water included) are packed full of unnecessary chemicals and sugars which will lead to bloating no matter how healthy your food intake may be. Stick to the most natural source, water. If a flavor is a requirement slice some lemons into your water.

Consistency over Over-Commitment

We have all woken up with a newfound desire for a flat stomach from time to tie or had that frustrating moment when our favorite jeans wouldn’t fit. While it may be tempting to jump into a 5 day a week fitness craze, setting realistic goals provides far more chances for success. Combining a healthy diet with as little as three, 15-minute HITT sessions a week is more likely to show you results than exercising 5 times a week on and off for several months.

So what are you waiting for? All it takes is a 15 minute around the blog, 3 times a week. Time to hit the pavement!
