4 Reasons To Invest In Yoga Pants - Number 1 Is A Bummer

by Sportitude

So you have just signed up to your first Yoga class. You are about to receive a whole body workout that will not only strengthen your mind, body and soul but will also help relieve stress, strengthen your core and improve your memory - amongst a whole host of other benefits.

The next step in your yoga journey will be getting your wardrobe sorted because the wrong ensemble will not only hamper your progress but may lead to some potentially embarrassing moments and we wouldn’t want to give you an excuse to skip your next class.

Here are 4 compelling reasons an investment in yoga tights should be next on the agenda.

1. Running shorts are a bummer. While comfort is key to a successful yoga class, the less is more rule does not apply when you are participating in all sorts of ungodly poses. Choosing to attend a class in your favourite pair of running shorts will leave you feeling exposed and uncomfortable during those downward dog poses and may offend other participants in your class. Avoid an awkward situation and side-glances with full coverage. Yoga pants are specifically designed for comfort so don't let the length make you think otherwise.

2. See through is not much better. If you are feeling reluctant to invest in a new pair of tights because you have your high school dance pants still sitting in your wardrobe, you may want to reconsider. Cotton tights and cheap materials will not only go see though during your class but will fail to offer the same amount of support as a durable pair of yoga tights. Let’s also not forget those embarrassing sweat marks that come with thin materials.

3. Let’s talk traction. Yoga pants are designed to absorb sweat so that you have traction when holding onto your legs during all those difficult poses. The last thing you want to do is distract your class with an all mighty thud because you have fallen out of one of your poses. Allow your yoga pants to do all the work for you, soaking up that sweat instead of leaving small puddles and patches anytime you move into a new position.

4. Yoga pants are a fashion staple.  The right pair of yoga pants will offer the perfect base for your Sunday coffee run ensemble sans actually having to work out. Who would know the difference really? But if you don’t want to be mistaken for wearing leggings (the dread), a quality investment will not only help keep you modest, it will hug in all the right places and leave you on the best-dressed list.
