4 Foods To Ditch For Healthy, Glowing Skin

by Sportitude

Want healthy, glowing skin? Don’t we all. Now do you want to good news or the bad news first? We’ll go with the good … we are not about to tell you to invest hundreds of dollars into miracle creams and elixirs. We are however about to suggest you sideline some of your favorite foods.

Cheese: If acne and breakouts are an issue, it may be time to reconsider that cheese platter for the time being. Hormones found in lactating milk from cows can translate into hormonal acne in humans. Several studies have found that cow’s milk increased both the severity and number of people who experienced acne.

Processed Carbohydrates: We have all heard the term ‘sugar face’ and while ditching the sweet stuff is a step in the right direction, when it comes to a healthy complexion, processed carbohydrates are next on the firing line. Processed carbohydrates such as white bread, pasta, rice, cereals, cakes and sweets all turn into sugar in our bodies causing a sudden spike in our insulin levels which has been linked to aggravating and causing acne.

Soda: Now we all know that soft drinks are packed full of sugar and offer zero in the way of nutrients or any benefits to our health for that matter. When it comes to healthy skin, which also happens to start with good gut health, soda disrupts the healthy bacteria found in our intestines. An imbalance of  gut health can lead to acne, eczema, rosacea and an overall dullness in the skin.

Canned foods: Canned foods are packed full of sodium and BPA which when consumed in large quantities is bad for both our overall health and our skin. Too much salt means our skin retains far too much water and looks puffy while BPA also known as bisphenol is known to be not only an endocrine disruptor but it also causes inflammation in the body.
